History Association Report 2015-16

Smt Elsa Sunny M was appointed as the Association in charge for the academic year 2015-16.Dr. Gracy K S was provided with charge of annual publication Historia. Dr Phillip Cherian, Rtd HOD of Mar Thoma College For Women Perumbavoor inaugurated the Association activities for this Academic Year.

On December 1st 2015 History Association and Red ribbon Club jointly observed 'Aids Day'.Prof. Jos Joseph HOD of Statistics was the Chief Guest.

History Association Report 2014-15

Smt.Anila Varghese was appointed as the Teacher co-ordinator of  History Association. The activities of  the Association for the year 2014-15 was inaugurated by Dr.Jenny Peter, assistant Professor U C College Alwye.

•             Department  of History organized a two day (25th and 26th September 2014) UGC Sponsored National Seminar on the topic of `Subaltern movements in colonial Kerala’.  Classes on the topic was taken by eminent scholars from within and outside the State.  Inaugural talk was delivered by Dr.K.V.Kunjikrishnan, Former Registrar,CUSAT. Principal dr.Thamby Abraham was presided over the inaugural session.Sri C.V Jacob College Trust Secretary felicitated the Seminar.Prof.Jos joseph HOD of Statistics)Dr.K.P Kuriakose(HOD of physics) are also present at the occassion.Other eminent scholars who took classes on this occasion were Dr.K.S.Madhavan, University of Calicut, Smt.Rekha Raj, Social Activist, Dr.Sivadasan.P, University of Calicut and Dr.V.J.Varghese, University of HyderabadAn Exhibition on heritage goods was arranged at the Archeological Museum of Department of History for the students of History.

•             A site visit was organized to Mysore Palace, Golden Temple, Chamundi Hills and Temple for the students of History from Jan 20th  to 23rd 2015.  Smt. Gracy K S, Assistant Professor of History accompanied the team.

•             Muthuvanmala a historical site was visited by th e Final Year History students 8-1 2015

•             Onam and Christmas celebrations were organized by the Association.

•             History Association in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club arranged a Blood Donation Awareness Class for the students of St. Peter’s College Kolenchery on 3-2 -15.

•             Blood Group Assessment Camp was organized byDepartment of History in Collaberation with Red Ribbon Club on 3-2-15.
